Trunk bones made up
of two groups:
Spinal column: vertebra,
sacrum, and coccyx
Thoracic cage:
sternum and ribs
It extends
from the lower part of the skull to the pelvis, located in the mid-dorsal region
and forms the vertical axis, it is formed by a series of bones, vertebrae, separated from each other by
fibrocartilaginous intervertebral discs. Also, It spreads the weight of the
trunk to the other lower limbs. As
well, it protects and surrounds the spinal cord, connecting it to the muscles
of the neck and back.
The bones of the thorax are compound of the sternum, ribs, sternum
